Thick, rich maple syrup is your main energy source for your 10 days of Lemonade Cleansing. It is also a good source of Manganese and Zinc. Created by trees, it is an all-natural, “green” energy source.

Although maple syrup is high in calories; the right amount will perform as perfect daily energy. It will allow you to remain focused and energetic during your diet. It is also sweet, flavorful, and delicious.

It is important that you purchase the correct type of maple syrup for your mixture. The wrong type of maple Syrup will not yield positive results.

Types of Maple Syrup

The maple syrup section of your grocery store is probably flooded with bottles of “Pancake Syrup”, “Waffle Syrup”, and “Table Syrup”. Do not be fooled. These products are actually imitation maple syrup and should never be used during the Lemonade Cleanse. Federal regulations only allow real maple syrup to have the word “Maple” in the title.

Stanley Burroughs chose Maple Syrup as a pure energy source because it was a natural energy “close to the trees”. Because of this, you should choose the darkest, highest grade of syrup that you can. Grades of Maple Syrup range from AA – D (D is the darkest).

I recommend that you select at least Grade B or darker Maple Syrup for your cleanse. If you can only find Grade A, that is ok too.

Alternatives to Maple Syrup

Stanley Burroughs does not recommend using other forms of energy besides maple syrup. Do not use non-calorie sweeteners because you will be starving yourself. Do not use honey because it is a pre-digested food. Stanley Burroughs did approve a few other sources of energy if you cannot use maple syrup. However, I highly recommend Grade B maple syrup for best results. Here are some alternatives:

• Sugar Cane

In My Experience

Sometimes it is hard to find Grade B Maple Syrup. If you can’t it find it in your local grocery store, try a health food store, farmer’s market, or buy it in bulk online.
